How to Transfer Files Between Two Computers in a Remote Session

Copy files on one computer and paste them on the other. They travel over the session's encrypted connection, with progress shown as they move.

How to Transfer Files Between Two Computers in a Remote Session

You don't need email, a USB stick or a file-sharing site to move files during a session. ScreenSharePRO carries them inside the session you already have open.

Before you start

File transfer needs the ScreenSharePRO desktop app at both ends. It isn't available when either side is using the browser web app.

1. Connect the two computers

Start a session as usual. If you haven't done that before, follow how to remotely access a Windows PC.

2. Copy the files

On either computer, select the files you want and copy them, exactly as you would to move them between folders. Documents, spreadsheets, archives, images and video all travel the same way.

3. Paste them on the other computer

Paste into a folder on the other machine. The files cross the session's encrypted WebRTC data channel, directly between the two computers, and the Transfers panel shows each file's progress until it arrives.

It works in both directions

You can send files from the host to the viewer or from the viewer to the host. Text and images you copy are shared the same way through clipboard sync.
