How to Set Up Unattended Access to a Windows PC

Reach a PC when nobody is there to accept the connection: opt the machine in, set an unattended password, and connect whenever you need to.

How to Set Up Unattended Access to a Windows PC

Unattended access lets you connect to a computer with nobody in front of it: a server, an office PC after hours, a machine at a remote site. You set it up once, on the computer you want to reach.

1. Opt the PC in

On the computer you want to reach, open ScreenSharePRO's settings, turn on unattended access and set an unattended password. Unattended access stays off until you do this, and it needs the desktop app on that computer.

2. Choose a strong password

Anyone with the machine's ID and this password can connect without someone accepting, so make it long and unique, and share it only with the people who should have access.

3. Save the host

Connect once from your own computer and keep the PC in Saved Hosts, so it is always one click away.

4. Connect any time

Connect with the unattended password whether or not anyone is at the machine. The ScreenSharePRO Windows service hosts the PC even at the sign-in screen. When someone signs in, their own session takes over.

If the PC is asleep

Wake-on-LAN can power it on first. It needs the desktop app at both ends, the host's permission (off by default) and both computers on the same local network.
